 PURPOSE/POLICY of this Forum
« Thread Started on Jul 24, 2008, 7:46pm »

Here is to explain what this site is all about.

1. An opportunity to talk all things about aikido without censure from an aikido body - i.e. non-partisan.

2. A chance for all clubs and styles &c. to talk to each other, possibly to share ideas, club events, news &c. To overcome the normal hierarchical barrier between organisations.

3. To learn something by sharing ideas beyond our own little community TO THE WIDER community.

4. To have one place which can be used for a starting point on all things aikido, using the expertise of students and Senseis the world-over (if we get that big!)

SO, LET'S GET AIKIDO-ING!!!

P.S. This site's administrators do not make any revenue from promoting this site. It is purely on a voluntary basis. The only benefit we can derive is possibly by promoting our own club &c. - the which YOU can do by logging on and posting articles anyway! (It is true that the forum hosting company, proboards.com, make a small profit from their advertising - to pay them for hosting it to us all for 'free'.) We have no other connection with them.

Concerning our duty to 'police' the site, it should be obvious that we will 'keep it clean'.

Do we need to spell-out some long verbose document on privacy, language, provocation &c.? ::)

We do have the power to delete threads, replies, members &c. - but only if you PM (personal message) the current administrator with a legitimate complaint.

If it seems to be AIKIDO, then it remains; otherwise, it goes. OK? :D

So, let's be free to make Aikido Bigger without undue restrictions!

Administrator.

PRIVACY of Registration
------------------------------

Someone is bound to ask whether the administrators can see the registration details.

The answer is yes, but only the administrator.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE ADMINISTRATOR TO KNOW those details you provide on registration, typically:

email address,
your website,
age or date of birth,
gender,
name,
location

THEN DON'T ENTER VALID INFORMATION! (He/She presumes none of it is necessarily true anyway.)

It is not the Administrator who requires it - it is proboards.com - probably to meet US requirements for chat forums.

Oh, you ought to have a proper email address - even if it is hotmail - otherwise how can you retrieve your passwords?

So, get Aikido-ing. We haven't got the time work out your privacy, even if we could. ;)
